I'm 18, and I have a very dark forehead and the skin is rough, dry and full with scabs and pimples. It's been almost 5 years since it's been that way. It's continued to be dark, dry and uneven from the rest of my face. I've been applying a toner and face moisturizer to my whole face for 3 years so far, but there hasn't been too much improvement since then.
How well does skin resurfacing work and can it work to completely replace unhealthy dark skin on the face?
Skin resurfacing is a very effective way to improve the skin consistency, texture, and overall appearance. It is very important to be on a dedicated skin care regimen for 2-3 months prior to having a skin resurfacing procedure and to then maintain the skin care afterward. If you have been on Accutane, it is recommended not to have a resurfacing treatment for 6 months to a year following completion of the Accutane regimen. If you are not already seeing someone, consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon or dermatologist can help direct you to the best course of action for your individual needs. Best wishes on achieving your goals.
